NBBS Living Biology Lab – NBBS Garden
When opportunity arises we will be visited by overseas guests and supported by overseas volunteers. These important visitors will help the process of teaching in the classroom and add valuable chances for students to interact and use real-life language skills to communicate in English. Overseas specialists will also play an important role in teacher training and professional development for all staff.
NBBS can utilize our multi-faceted gardens year-round for many gardening and environmental projects as well as for reading, art, picnics and simply enjoying a natural space! Older students take responsibility for the NBBS Recycling and Composting Program. Students organize, label, and educate all classes about the program which is carried out on a daily and weekly basis. Food waste is taken and turned it into compost using our Living Biology Lab space. Connected to composting is planting, tending to, and harvesting various vegetables in the NBBS Garden. As well, in a basic entrepreneur program, produce is packaged, promoted and sold to NBBS parents. The small profit from this program is put back into the garden program.
